Starting skills will affect your character, with skills like Pistol Certification giving players 10% more damage, while Robotics deals 10% more damage to robots and turrets. For example, you can become a Beast Hunter, Combat Medic or Cyber Runner. There will also be multiple backgrounds made available, all of which come with starting skills. Starfield is a single-player title, with the option to completely customise your character, giving players the chance to create whoever they want, whether that be a muscular or long-haired person. The trailer specifies that this group of people are peacekeepers that are protecting people from the Fleet Star Collective. Not a whole lot is known about the story right now, but we know that the main character is invited to join Constellation and go to the capital city of New Atlantis. You also have control over your ship, as you will be able to fully customise and design it from the ground up. There is also a crafting system that can be used to make things like weapons and mods, with the ability to unlock new skills and weapons as you level up.
We can see the main character using a jetpack to fly across ridges to fight enemies, as well as the same Bethesda mechanic of unlocking rouge weapon cases that are found throughout the world. After fighting some of the pirate Crimson Fleet, we can see the Starfield XP progression system in action, which is used to rank up your weapons. The trailer shows the protagonist collecting resources and checking out alien creatures on the moon of Kreet, before moving onto an abandoned research lab.Īt the lab, we can see the various weapons available. It looks like you will be encouraged to explore, as your character is able to traverse any planet with ease, with a few weapons on hand. Bethesda has claimed that there are more than 1000 planets to visit in over 100 solar systems. It looks to have a similar style as No Man’s Sky, with the option to explore multiple planets at your own pace. The game is an open-world RPG and will be playable in both first and third-person. Thanks to the latest 15-minute-long trailer we have a better idea of what the gameplay in Starfield will look like.
